Windy City Auction Update

Well, the Windy City Pulp and Paper Convention is now just a month away (April 6-8, 2018, at the Westin Lombard Yorktown Center). We’ve been posting material from our Friday night auction (April 6), featuring material from the estate of Glenn Lord, but the Saturday night auction (April 7), which features material from a variety of sources, has some great items as well.

One of them is a double-sided, handwritten letter dated June 21, 1971, from legendary author Robert Bloch to writer and producer Sam Peeples, which accompanied a copy of Bloch’s book, “The Todd Dossier” (see attached for the first side of the letter).  This fascinating letter describes the genesis of the book, how Bloch came to be cheated out of credit for it when it was published, and how the publisher lied about how it would be published, so that Bloch took less money for the book than he would have otherwise agreed to.

Another lot in the Saturday night auction also contains a handwritten letter from Bloch to Peeples, this time concerning the paperback, “Bloch and Bradbury,” and the publisher’s deceit behind how that anthology came to be.
